VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR

PERMANENT ROLE
21 HOURS PER WEEK - FLEXIBLE HOURS AVAILABLE
£8.00 PER HOUR

Volunteers are vital to our work at Ferne Animal Sanctuary. With our new rehoming centre opening shortly, we are ready to take volunteering to another level at the Sanctuary.   We need to develop new and innovative opportunities for volunteers to help us deliver our vital animal rescue and rehoming work and you will play a key role in this exciting initiative.

This is a new post reporting to the Head of Fundraising and Marketing. We already have a team of volunteers helping us to care for the 300+ animals living at the Sanctuary. Volunteers also help with home visits after rehoming, make our charity shops run smoothly and assist at our busy events raising essential funds and promoting the Sanctuary.

We are seeking a Volunteer Coordinator to recruit, train, coordinate, support and manage Ferne Animal Sanctuary's volunteers. This is a new role requiring someone who can develop our current relationships with volunteers and attract new volunteers.

Our Volunteer Coordinator will have some experience of volunteering or working with volunteers. Be approachable and friendly, highly organised and have excellent verbal, written and IT skills.

Due to the location and the role it is essential you have access to transport and have the ability to independently travel.

FUNDRAISING AND MARKETING ASSISTANT

PERMANENT ROLE
35 HOURS PER WEEK
£7.50 PER HOUR
Based WAMBROOK, CHARD, SOMERSET

The delivery of outstanding Fundraising and Marketing is essential to the continued success of Ferne Animal Sanctuary. With our new rehoming centre opening shortly, we are entering an exciting phase of growth and development.  As the Fundraising and Marketing Assistant you will be an integral part of the team undertaking a wide variety of interesting duties.

Reporting to the Head of Fundraising and Marketing you will have experience of working in an office environment with demonstrated organisational and administration skills.   It is essential you have excellent IT skills, alongside accuracy and attention to detail.   You will be confident in the use and development of social media and website content management.

You will be the first point of contact for Fundraising and Marketing enquiries so it is essential you have experience in a customer facing role with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate in a friendly and effective manner.

Due to the location and the role it is essential you have access to transport and have the ability to independently travel.  Due to the nature of the role there will be some weekend, bank holiday and evening working.

FINANCE ASSISTANT

PERMANENT ROLE
£8.00 PER HOUR
15 HOURS PER WEEK
BASED WAMBROOK, CHARD
This is a new role to support the continued growth and development of Ferne Animal Sanctuary. 
As the Finance Assistant you will process supplier invoices, reconcile supplier statements, post receipts, handle cash and undertake general finance administration duties.  In addition you will support the Financial Controller and Senior Finance Assistant in year-end finance operations.
You will need to demonstrate excellent and accurate data entry skills, alongside the ability to effectively use Microsoft Office packages.  It is important you have good interpersonal skills and are willing to be flexible in the workplace.
The successful candidate will have proven experience of working in an administration setting.   It is desirable you have experience of SAGE line 50 and Enterprise MRM.
Due to the location and role it is essential you have access to transport and the ability to travel.

Trustee

Ferne Animal Sanctuary is seeking to recruit new Trustees who will bring skills, knowledge and enthusiasm to the board.

Over the last three years, the Sanctuary has experienced significant growth thanks to the generosity of our supporters and the increasing need for our services.
Do you have the time and interest to meet six times a year and sit on at least one specific committee?
If you have current or recent experience in any of the following, we’d love to hear from you:


• Animal Care/Welfare • Finance • Fundraising • Sales/Marketing/PR

Starting in this period of exciting development, as a Trustee, you would commit to attend board meetings and use your business acumen and strategic judgement to help safeguard the future of the animals needing our care.

Ferne Animal Sanctuary has been saving the lives of unwanted and abandoned animals for over 70 years.
Your support will mean this vital work can continue.

Ferne Animal Sanctuary strives to provide care and refuge for unwanted domestic & farm animals. The Sanctuary rehomes dogs & cats within a 30 mile radius of Ferne. Some horses & ponies are available for permanent loan; all other animals remain at the Sanctuary for the rest of their lives. We rely entirely on donations & legacies to continue its work. Some of the animals come to Ferne because they have been neglected or are no longer wanted. Others come to us because of circumstantial changes of their owners. All animals are given the care, attention & TLC they need to enjoy a happy life while they are at Ferne.
