You Coming to Ferne
Most of our visits are from Pre-schools and Primary Schools, however all age groups can be catered for.
A new Education Strategy has just been agreed with new sessions focusing on animal welfare issues currently being designed. These sessions will have strong links to Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHE) and Citizenship curricula (such as making decisions, and responsibilities).
We are also able to cater for the classic science topics such as habitats, adaptation, and food chains. Ferne is also a great place to get inspiration for a Literacy topic or text – our herd of goats can help Three Billy Goats Gruff come alive in children’s imaginations, and our chickens of all breeds and sizes bring colour to Little Red Hen.
We also offer active guided tours especially designed for KS1 and below (those with particularly short attentions spans!) – involving plenty of short activities at various locations.
Other Group Visits
As well as schools, we welcome other organised groups to come and visit Ferne. Whether it is for a treat or help complete a part of guided learning such as the Friend to Animal badge for Brownies.
See the Educational Visit Information page for more details to help with planning a visit.
