At Ferne, we’re proud to offer a spacious, safe, and loving environment for every cat that comes into our cattery. With generous indoor areas and large runs, our dedicated team and volunteers always ensure the cats in our care receive the time, attention, and affection they deserve.

However, while our space is fantastic, we know we can do even more to create a truly enriching environment for our feline residents. That’s why we’re launching an urgent appeal to raise £5,000 to transform our cattery into a haven of comfort, stimulation, and security.

Why We Need Your Support

Many of the cats arriving at Ferne are facing stressful and uncertain times as they await a new, loving home. While we do everything we can to support them emotionally and physically, our cattery currently lacks essential elements that would significantly improve their wellbeing.

We want to introduce:

• Cat enrichment features such as climbing structures and interactive toys

• Private hiding spaces where cats can retreat and feel safe

• Vertical wall furniture to allow cats to perch, climb, and explore

• Outdoor furniture that offers opportunities to play, scratch, and relax

The Importance of Cat Enrichment and Comfort

Enrichment is a vital part of any cat’s wellbeing. Without adequate stimulation, cats can become bored, stressed, and even depressed. Providing opportunities for natural behaviours—like climbing, hiding, and surveying their surroundings—helps keep them happy, healthy, and emotionally balanced.

Additionally, creating secure spaces to hide has been scientifically proven to reduce stress in cats, helping them feel more confident and secure in new environments. This is especially important in a cattery setting, where cats are adjusting to unfamiliar surroundings.

By improving the cattery environment, we’re not just enhancing their temporary stay—we’re making it easier for them to settle into their forever homes, and freeing up space for more cats in need.
